Record response to plans for major D4 development

A RECORD number of people have made submissions over plans by businessman Sean Dunne to redevelop the former Jury's Hotel site in Dublin 4.

Yesterday An Bord Pleanala said 127 submissions had been received by Thursday's deadline -- a record for any planning application the board has ever considered.

It has not yet collated how many are opposed to the development.

When the proposal was first being considered, 739 submissions were received.

Plans by Mr Dunne to build a 37-storey landmark tower were shot down by Dublin City Council last month. But objectors have asked the board to refuse permission for the whole development, and not just the landmark tower.
