THE ENVIRONMENTAL Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking further
information on plans by waste management company Panda to develop a mechanical
and biological treatment facility near Newgrange, Co Meath. The agency wants
further details on dioxin emissions from a proposed eight-megawatt biomass
furnace on the five-acre site as well as information about the risks of fire
and explosion, and contamination of the environment by potentially harmful
bacteria.
