Dunne's D4 store to face probe on planning

DEVELOPER Sean Dunne is being investigated in relation to planning regulations, after a shop and off-licence opened in his Ballsbridge hotel.

Dunne and his wife Gayle's latest venture is D4 Stores, a supermarket on the former Jury's Hotel site, selling cut-price goods including groceries, beers and wine.

But a spokeswoman for Dublin City Council last night confirmed that the authority had received a complaint in relation to an alleged unauthorised change of use of the premises.

The matter was currently being investigated, she added.

Fine Gael Dublin South-East TD Lucinda Creighton said she had concerns that the supermarket, which is modelling itself as a low cost option for Dublin 4 residents, is in breach of planning law.
