Demolition firm faces legal action

DUBLIN City Council is to take legal action against a developer who illegally knocked a 19th century convent without permission.

Kimpton Vale faces fines of up to €12.7m after it razed the former Presentation Convent in Terenure last November while it was in the process of becoming a listed building.

The company failed to meet a deadline last month to reinstate the building. "We will be instigating legal proceedings," the council confirmed yesterday, but refused to comment further.
