Fury at Blasket leak

The Kerryman:

DINGLE solicitor Peter Callery is outraged by media reports this week which claim to reveal details of a purchase agreement between the Office of Public Works and Blasket Island landowners.

Mr Callery who heads up An Blascaod Mor Teo, the company which owns the majority of the property on the island, contacted The Kerryman on Tuesday to express his anger over the reports.

These reports in The Examiner and The Times claim that the OPW are hopeful of a conclusion to the protracted purchase agreement on the island before Christmas. The articles reveal confidential details such as an increased offer by the OPW from 68,000 per holding to 90,000 per holding on the island. I have not received any details of such an agreement or offer from OPW, he stated.

I have been in contact with other landowners who said the OPW have reached a new low in this whole affair by revealing this information to the public. Its absolutely outrageous and this type of behaviour is not only unacceptable but can only do grave damage,รข€ Mr Callery declared.
